A VIP dining experience was created for an International Association President’s Reception held in Melbourne. The brief requested an exclusive and historic Melbourne location with a unique experience for 30 guests. Guests were taken on a ‘behind the scenes’ tour, winding through the corridors of the Library, before arriving on the Dome rooftop for as the sun set over Melbourne. A private dining table was laid out above in the domed gallery with the public below.

The newly developed State Library Victoria was the perfect venue for the President’s Reception.  Originally built in the 1850’s the Library is an impressive historical destination in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD. Exclusive access to the Dome rooftop and Level 6 provided a stunning backdrop for the dinner, with guests accessing areas of the Library not accessible to the public. Dinner was served overlooking the stunning La Trobe Reading Room.

A four course menu was deigned to play homage the historic books that line the Library shelves.  Chef took inspiration from menus from yesteryear, creating a menu that married local produce, modern day techniques and traditional dishes to take guests on a gastronomy journey.

Following the red carpet arrival, guests were taken on a behind the scenes tour through the catacombs of the Library and given a private viewing of a rare collection of historic books and artwork, specially curated for their event. As the sun set on the Dome rooftop a string quartet played before a feature performance during dinner from an opera singer.
