The Lock Up Experience

Overview

Experience what it was like to be brought in to the Watch House back in the early 90’s. The arresting experience includes personalised charge sheets, mug shots, and a chance to be processed by the cell blocks sergeants.

Catering

Enjoy pre dinner drinks and canapes with I the large cells, before being taken through for a substantial offerings in each of the exercise yards. We can create innovative ‘prison food’, or guests can be transferred to the Old Melbourne Gaol cell block for a degustation of local Victorian produce.

Venue

The Former City Watch House was used up until 1994 and sits adjacent to the Old Melbourne Gaol which is famous for hosting Ned Kelly’s final days. The Watch House has been preserved as it was left in the early 90’s including the processing office, male and female yards, cells, and the eerie padded cell.

Entertainment

Roving actors dressed as sergeants facilitate the interactive tour, whilst food and beverage staff dress up as in mates of the prison block, and live music and DJs perform from behind the bars dressed in jump suits.

MET:Melbourne

Overview

Get to know Melbourne, with a touch of old-world glamour, combined with a gala dinner experience to showcase our impressive city. Guests can arrive by an historic tram car to the steps of the State Library, and brought up the red carpet into a high end dinner setting. The night is a journey from Melbourne’s historic past, through to its exciting future.

Catering

The curated menu includes a selection of local produce that pays tribute to dishes from yesteryear, whilst celebrating innovation in cooking and flavour combinations. The menu can be delivered as a seated dinner, or as a cocktail reception.

Venue

The State Library Victoria is the country’s oldest and largest public library, which recently underwent an $88m refurbishment to position the library to the next generation. Held across two of the Historic reading rooms, including the Ian Potter Queens Hall and La Trobe Reading Room, guests enter via the grand marble stair case.

Entertainment

Interactive entertainment starts from the moment guests board the historic tram car, and ride through the CBD streets. Arriving at the Library steps, the night then becomes a journey through music, roving acts, and visual displays, before culminating in a visual spectacular story of Melbourne, projection mapped across the La Trobe Reading Room.

Laneway Dine Around

Overview

Experience the uniqueness of the Melbourne Laneways with an immersive dine around through the boutique art galleries. Starting at the Paris end of Flinders Lane, guests will experience a different course at three separate galleries. Each course is interactive and is curated to the exhibition currently being shown.

Catering

Menus are created for a standing group of up to 100 guests, or a seated group for up to 50 guests. Each offering is bespoke, matched to the current exhibition. Showtime Event Group also incorporates ‘street art’ themes across the menu, and aligns with local boutique suppliers, such as gin distilleries and local chocolate makers, creating a truly Melbourne experience.

Venue

There are nine different galleries along Flinders Lane that can be activated for catered events. Depending on the time of year, duration, access and guest numbers, Showtime Event Group will provide you with the best option available and suited to your own experiential dining requirements.

Entertainment

Let us develop an entertaining addition to each venue, as well as adding something immersive whilst travelling to each gallery. Guests also walk past the very popular Hosier Lane, perfect for group photo opportunities.

Brighton Bathing Box

Overview

These colourful boxes are a unique part of Melbourne beaches, lining Port Phillip Bay in Brighton. Take your guests for a short bus ride, just 15 minutes from the CBD, and enjoy a beach picnic in the sand, complete with sun umbrellas, blankets, custom towels and photo opportunities.

Catering

Keep it simple with a lunch box, or shared picnic basket of traditional style fish & chips, oysters and fresh seafood. Transform a part of the beach into your own private oasis with a marquee covered dining table overlooking the blue water and colourful bathing boxes. A culmination of great Australian produce providing an unforgettable feast by the beach.

Venue

Make the most of the beach location, or recreate the space back in South Wharf along the promenade where we transform the outdoor space with pop up food stalls and food trucks, deck chairs, sandy beach and dining space.

Entertainment

Using the beach as the back drop, we can organise an impressive beach ‘flash mob’ that includes life savers, ice cream vendors, beach goers, and passing joggers. All captured on film for your guests to keep as a memento. We can also arrange an impressive group photo with drone footage.

World Heritage Venues

Overview

Some of Australia’s grandest venues are located here in Victoria, and Showtime Event Group have access to a range of heritage venues. As event partner to the National Trust of Victoria, we can activate many of their properties including Como House and Gardens, and Labassa. For the larger numbers we recommend the majestic Royal Exhibition Building.

Catering

Showtime Event Group offers a menu that highlights Victorian produce and celebrates local cuisine and how international flavours have influenced our city from the Gold Rush era, through to today. Showtime Event Group also offers a range of international menus including traditional Asian and Indian cuisine.

Venue

The Royal Exhibition Building is located in Carlton Gardens, and was erected in the gold rush era. The venue has a world heritage listing, and has capacity for 3,000 seated guests. It was first built to show the world that Melbourne was a prosperous city, and today plays host to a series of exhibitions and world-class events.

Entertainment

The venue can become and impressive back drop to a projection mapping light show, tailored to your guest’s requirements. Guests can also gather outside for an impressive group photo opportunity. The venue sits next to the Melbourne Museum that can be incorporated in to your dining experience.

Warehouse Activations

Overview

Melbourne was once an industrial hub built around the Yarra River, with great preservation, modern Melbourne now features a range of converted historic warehouses in the city centre that are an ideal backdrop for urban events, with a chic Melbourne flair.

Catering

Our range of menus include a play on ‘deconstruction’ with a series of interactive, build you own food stations. Each station includes a large choice and is ideal for international guests with a wide palate.

Venue

Located in South Wharf in the Convention Centre precinct are two of our most popular warehouse conversions, Showtime Events Centre and Cargo Hall. Both spaces stretch along the Yarra River looking out over the Melbourne CBD. For large numbers, we transport guests to Port Melbourne, to The Timber Yard, or a short trip around Port Phillip Bay to Seaworks.

Entertainment

Each of these warehouse conversions are a blank canvas, with impressive rigging points, high ceilings, outdoor spaces, and waterfrontage – so creating a remarkable show has no bounds. Let us create something memorable for your guests that is tailored to your desire.
